Tips are optional ideas to help you be creative and crafty.
There are 5 pages to this printable:
- Page 1 is the example of the Finished Puzzle
- Pages 2-5 are the Game Pieces. Or ending page if more then five pages, five pages is being used as an example.
Tip: Print the Find Your Matches jigsaw puzzle game on card stock. This is heavier paper that you can purchase at most discount stores like Wal-Mart or Target or office supply stores.
Game Preparation, before the baby shower:
1) Set aside the Finished Puzzle page. Tip: Mount the Finished Puzzle on a piece of cardboard, or glue to layers of construction paper, so that the colors of the construction paper show around the edges (each colored layer is a little bigger than the other on).
2) Cut the pages of Game Pieces into squares, along the straight lines (that is, do not cut out the actual jigsaw puzzle piece).
3) Put all the squares in a bowl to be drawn out. Tip: Empty a plastic tub of baby wipes. Put the wipes in a Ziploc bag to keep them moist. Dry out the tub. Put the cut-up Game Pieces in the empty tub! (After the party, put the actual baby wipes back into the tub and give it to Mommy-to-Be.)
4) Decorate several pairs of scissors with blue and pink curl ribbon. Tie several long streamers of curl ribbon to one of the scissor handles, then curl. Tip: Go to your local dollar store and buy several pairs of to use for the party.
Party time:
1) As the guests arrive, have them pick a Game Piece from the bowl (or whatever you have the Game Pieces in).
2) If there are more Game Pieces than guests, distribute the leftover Game Pieces as evenly as possible.
3) Distribute the scissors and have the guests cut out their individual Game Piece. If you don’t have enough scissors, then have your guests share.
4) Now, have the guests find their Jigsaw Puzzle Matches! Each guest must find the two or three other guests who have pieces that fit into the Game Piece.
5) When a guest finds all the matches to her Game Piece, she puts her Game Piece onto the Finished Puzzle. The first one wins a prize!
Tip: Instead of putting the matched game piece on the Finished Puzzle, have the guest sign that corresponding piece on the Finished Puzzle. After the game, give the Finished Puzzle to the Mommy-to-Be as a keepsake!
This game is a great way for your guests to mingle and meet other guests they do not know!
